Offering an intimate dining experience, with freshly prepared food and a relaxed but yet formal service. We are privileged to have won several awards over the few years.

Positioned carefully between a gastro pub and pub, we offer a curated experience that isn’t pretentious and offers you an enjoyable, comfortable time in our restaurant and bar area. Nestled in the countryside only a few minutes from Dunmow and about 20 minutes from Chelmsford, in a Grade II listed thatched restaurant.

Our food is freshly prepared to order, led by our Head Chef James.

Our Front of House is understated and inviting, led by our Front of House Manager, Jonathan. Included in our menus are a vast selection of wines, ports, beers, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.

Using seasonal produce we change our menus four times a year.

Our Menus and Opening Times

Lunch: Wednesday to Saturday Lunch we offer a Lunch a la Carte and a table d’hote (set menu). 1 Course £18, 2 Courses for £22, or 3 Courses for £26. Our Lunch serving times are 12:00 – 15:00 with the last orders at 14:30.

Dinner: Wednesday to Saturday Dinner we offer a Al la Carte menu which runs 18:00 – 21:00.

Sunday: Our very popular Roast Menu which runs 12:00 – 19:00 with last orders at 17:00.

Wednesday Steak & Wine Night: offering a choice of steaks , sides and sauces. A great midweek celebration! A la Carte Menu  is still available.

Cocktails, Mocktails, Shots and Spritz: 2 for 1 all day Friday.

Thursday Burger: offering a choice of burgers, sides and sauces. Our A la Carte Menu is still available.

Afternoon Tea: -tiers of sumptuous freshly baked Cakes, Scones and Sandwiches with unlimited coffee and tea for only £25. Add unlimited Prosecco and Gin for £10.

Bar Menu: Available Thursday to Saturday we offer a bar menu of bites available between 15:00 – 17:30 to enjoy with some drinks in between services.
